Bee a Better Speller does not collect, store, or share any personal information. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
What the extension reads
To find misspelled words, the extension reads the words typed into text boxes on the web pages you visit. This happens entirely on your own computer. Page content is never saved and never sent anywhere.
What is saved, and where
These are saved in your own browser's extension storage, only on your device:
- your settings (animation speed, sound effects, voice)
- your personal dictionary (words you've added so they aren't flagged)
- the words you've misspelled and fixed, with the sentence they were in, so you can practice them in the quiz
- your quiz results
The developer cannot see any of it. You can remove any word, or clear everything, from the extension's popup. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.
What is sent over the internet
Nothing, by the extension. Spell checking, definitions and syllables all come from word lists included in the extension. If you use a browser's online voices to hear words spoken (such as Microsoft Edge's "Natural" voices), the browser itself handles that speech under its own privacy policy.
The web quiz
The web version of the quiz on this site works the same way: it collects nothing, and its settings are saved only in your browser.
Children
Because nothing is collected from anyone, nothing is collected from children.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
